League Two Play Off Second Leg Preview: Morecambe v Tranmere Rovers

Morecambe will welcome Tranmere Rovers this afternoon for the second leg of the league two play-offs with Morecambe 2-1 up.

First Leg Recap:

Nathaniel Knight-Percival put Morecambe one up in the 15th minute. Tranmere equalised through Peter Clarke four minutes later. Morecambe scored their second in added time of the first half when Liam McAlinden scored.

Team News

Morecambe are without Jon O’Sullivan who has a hamstring injury. Stephen Hendrie is unavailable after picking up an injury in the first leg. Kelvin Mellor is back after serving a three-match suspension.

Tranmere Rovers have no new injury concerns though Scott Davies is still injured.

The Manager’s Views

Derek Adams told the Lancaster Guardian he is looking forward to having the Morecambe fans back. He said, “It will be great for them after a whole season without getting to the Mazuma Stadium.”

Tranmere’s caretaker manager Iain Dawes says his side have analysed the first leg and believe they know where they can improve. “We’ve watched the game back a couple of times and we are clear what we need to tweak going into the game, and they are only minor tweaks. We just maybe need to get one or two more of the players in their pack and inside the box for crosses because we did get into that final third well, it was just that extra presence which we were lacking and that’s something that we need to look at.”

Final Thoughts

The game is still delicately balanced and both sides will want to score the first goal to gain some momentum in the tie.
