League Two Play Off Second Leg Preview: Forest Green Rovers v Newport County

Newport County travel to Forest Green to defend the 2-0 lead they have from the first leg.

First Leg Recap:

Matty Dolan scored a wonderful goal to go in front in the 31st minute. They scored their second goal in the second half with a goal from Lewis Collins.

Team News

Jamille Matt returned to the bench in the first leg and came on in the second half and could start the second leg. Ebou Adams is back from suspension.

Newport County will be hoping Lewis Collins is available after he picked up a knock in the first leg. Joss Labadie may be available after he missed the first leg due to injury.

The Manager’s Views

Jimmy Ball told the Forest Green Website that Forest Green will need to score three goals. He said “We have to score three goals on Sunday, and if they score first, that doesn’t change. The message is very clear – score three goals and you have a chance of going to the promised land.”

Newport County manager Michael Flynn says the pressure is on Forest Green to score first. Flynn told the club’s website “I think they were slight favourites going into it and all that’s happened now is we’ve moved to being slight favourites to go through. The pressure is on them to get the next goal.”

Final Thoughts

There will be goals in this game with Forest Green needing to create chances to get back in the game, Newport will aim to score first to control the game.
